ChatGPT Remove Grey Outlines after pasting into Libre Office Writer

Posted on May 23, 2024July 27, 2024 by Tim Brownlaw

ChatGPT is a great tool for assisting in the creation of a whole bunch of information given the correct prompts.

Anyway, Once you get some output from ChatGPT that you want to Copy and Paste into a Document, it surrounds everything with Grey Borders.

This is due to copying the actual HTML from the ChatGPT Website into the document.

The Fix:

Copy and Paste as usual to keep the formatting.

Select the Region of Text you just pasted then in the Toolbar – Then “Clear Direct Formatting” or (CTRL + M) and bingo, the borders are gone along with the other HTML and replaced with the ODF formating.

It’s kind of neat, and I say that as pasting it without formatting and having to go and manually reformat everything is way down the opposite end of the neat scale. It’s so far away that you would have to peer very hard and maybe even use a telescope to see it.

The Steps

  1. Copy and Paste the Output from ChatGPT into your LibreOffice Writer Document.
  2. (Ctrl + A) – Select All
  3. (Ctrl + M) – Clear Direct Formatting
  4. Then Save your Document and you are done!
